Happy Thanksgiving and new story cover!!

I'm so excited! I just got the beautiful cover for An Angel For Christmas from the Torquere Press art department. This is my first 'designed' cover so I'm all a flutter. :)

Check out my page for An Angel For Christmas to read the blurb. An excerpt will be on it's way shortly!

I want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. I know I have a whole lot to be thankful for his year... I have wonderful friends and family, my health, and this is the year I became a published author. Thanks to everyone for reading and I can't wait to share my latest creation, An Angel For Christmas, with you on Dec. 15th.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Love,

NaNoWri...whoops

*Sigh* When best laid plans go awry.

So, I decided that I was going to attempt NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. Oh my. 30 Days. 50,000 words. And absolutely no chance to retain your sanity. What the hell was I thinking?!

As the title of this post would suggest, all is not well in NaNo-land. At day 20 I have written exactly 20,460 words. *facepalm*

I will be the first to admit I am NOT a fast writer. With a day-job and various other projects and commitments that suck up time, I find part of my problem is just finding the time to sit down and write. The other problem is that I tend to be one of those people who agonize about every word and sentence. It's like I'm desperately trying to get it perfect the first time. Which is silly, because that's what endless editing and revisions are for. But that's why I thought it would be an interesting experience to try NaNo... sort of throw caution to the wind and force myself just to concentrate on output and focus on revisions and perfections later.

The good news is I've definitely written more than I would normally. The bad news is that I'm atrociously behind. The chances are pretty darn good that I won't make it to 50,000 in the next 10 days... especially with Thanksgiving coming up and all the family craziness that ensues. Somehow between working on the edits for my new holiday story ("An Angel for Christmas" will be out 12/15 from Torquere!! *end shameless promotion*), putting together the market materials for the story, and also taking time to put together this blog time got away from me. Also, of course the day-job and life in general always have a knack for rearing their ugly heads when it's least convenient. I know, excuses, excuses, but, I've certainly beein keeping busy this month, even if I don't quite make the cut with NaNo.

Oh, well. There's always next year to kick NaNo's...well, you know. ;) But in the meantime, I do believe I've gotten a good start on what I hope will be my first novel-length story. So, something good has come out of NaNo. Fingers crossed that all continues to go well! Just to be safe, I'll be crossing my toes as well.

I still have 10 more days to write as much as humanly possible. Lovely. I better get back to beating my head against my computer then... or, you know, writing my story instead of blog posts. ;)

Wish me luck!

I felt it was about time...

...to carve out a little spot for myself in the vastness that is cyber-space!

I'm on livejournal, but I thought a proper blog would reach more people. So, here I am.

I'll update regularly with info about my new writing projects and all manner of other musings I am sure. I currently have two short stories published with Torquere Press, and a longer holiday story due out 12/15. I'm so excited! It's a short novella and it is my first foray into the paranormal genre. I hope to have a marketing blurb and excerpt to share with you soon, but it is called An Angel for Christmas and it is about a guardian angel who falls in love with his human charge.

More to come very soon!
